The advantages of living indoors

Stating the Obvious #1
The primary advantages of living indoors. We take for granted living indoors and it’s many advantages. By living, I mean all the activities we do: eat, work, sleep and generally exist. The biggest advantages are so basic we hardly think of them; they are: the ability to control the temperature and to be out of the wind & falling weather.
Being in an enclosed space allows us to control the temperature of the air around us by heat from a stove or cooling the air in some fashion. This allows us to do many tasks in relative ease with protection from the elements.

Besides the relative comfort, living indoors provides there are some life sustaining advantages as well. Living indoors also protects us from things such as hypothermia, providing we can heat the space we’re in and if we have access to clean water we can prevent dehydration and heat stroke. These are things which can kill us if we are exposed to the elements too long.

Long exposure to cold combined with being wet is a deadly combination. If we cannot raise our core body temperature, hypothermia will ensue and without warmth will eventually bring death.

Exposure to heat will also lead to our demise by a process known as hyperthermia which is the body getting too hot. This is the opposite of hypothermia. Hyperthermia also accompanied by dehydration will also bring about death.
Although living or spending time outdoors is certainly not going to kill you and is often a very positive thing. It is because of the dangers of extreme, prolonged exposure that we seek shelter in one form or another.
